Hair Transplant in Turkey

It has become commonplace on public transportation in the Turkish city of Istanbul to see people who have had hair transplants to deal with baldness and hair loss, especially foreign tourists who found what they were looking for in Turkey, given the good reputation in this sector.

Thanks to modern technologies and reasonable prices, ranging between one thousand and two thousand dollars - depending on the case - the Turkish market has outperformed the European market, and has become desired by many.

Medical tourism in Turkey also provides many services and advantages, starting with government facilities for entering the country, through low prices for flights and hotels, and ending with advanced medical facilities.

During 2017, citizens from seventy countries came to Turkey for hair transplantation. Member of the Medical Tourism Development Council in Turkey, Safiya Kurt, said that Turkey has become a leading country and a reference in the field of hair transplantation.

Loujain Bayraktar, director of the quality department at one of the hair transplant centers (Turkishana), said, “The Turkish government has greatly supported the health sector, which includes hair transplantation, as Turkey is outside the flock in terms of the techniques used.”

She added, "Europe uses old technologies, while we use that in addition to modern technologies. Even robots are used, in addition to appropriate prices for services and flights, and the desire of tourists to come and tourism."

Bayraktar continued, "The issue of entry visas to the country is important, because European visas are difficult, while Turkey has provided facilities, in addition to the tourist's love for Turkey and his preference for it over Europe, let alone if it is medical tourism."

She stressed that "the customer cares about the result. It is better than Europe first and cheaper second, because we use technologies that do not exist in Europe, as they are exclusively in Turkey."

She explained, "There are techniques such as anesthesia without pain, and we are the first in terms of price, and therefore we are preferred, not only by Arabs, but also by Europeans and others."

Regarding the results obtained, Bayraktar said that hair transplantation is “a medical procedure, but the results depend on the doctor’s experience, and the doctor’s experience in Turkey is comparable to the best doctors in the world.”

She continued, "Turkey takes a large share (of hair transplant operations), and therefore the experience is great and the techniques are many, and the client gets a satisfactory result, and here he chooses Turkey in the first place."

She stressed that "contact with the client does not stop after the end of treatment. Rather, we provide him with psychological support and communicate with him constantly, until he gets the desired result, and in return we get positive reactions."

Regarding the language, Bayrakdar said that “it is no longer an obstacle thanks to the number of Arab residents in Turkey and those working in medical tourism, and from the moment the client arrives at the airport, translators for Arabic and other languages are available to him.”

Techniques

Regarding the techniques used in Turkey and what distinguishes them from others, Hamza Al-Sattaf, director of operations at one of the centers, said: “We have two techniques in the center: the first is “FUE”, using micrometric engines, and the hair follicles taken are implanted in the channels that are opened.”

Al-Sattaf added, "The second technique is DHI, which is the process of implanting follicles under the skin with special injections. It is a transfer process similar to the first, but distinct from it."

Regarding the difference between the two methods, he stated, “In the old method, follicles are taken from the head and planted under complete anesthesia for the client, and they leave traces on the skin, while the DHI technique does not leave traces...only small dots that disappear as the hair grows.”

He explained that “DHI” is the latest technology in the world, started in Turkey, and differs from Europe in many ways. Turkey has tourism potential and its prices are better compared to prices in Europe.”

Al-Sattaf added that prices in Turkey range between one thousand and two thousand dollars, depending on the situation, while in Europe the cost is about nine thousand dollars.

He concluded that Turkey is technically advanced in this field, has more experience and has better results. In Turkey, about five hundred hair transplant operations are performed daily.
